Do you enjoy a pint of good cask ale? Do you like to see a wide variety of different beers - different styles, different tastes? Do you appreciate the warmth and conviviality of the traditional British pub?

If you can answer 'yes' to any or all of these questions you are sure to benefit by becoming a member of CAMRA.

The Campaign for Real Ale is a voluntary organisation consisting of over 96,000 ordinary drinkers, run by an unpaid, elected National Executive and backed by a small corps of professional executives. It speaks for drinkers everywhere in supporting traditional pubs and breweries, helping to raise standards in the brewing, keeping and serving of cask conditioned ale, speaking out against the rundown or closure of pubs and breweries, and spreading the word about finding the best beer. Ultimately, the way we've been most successful has been in informing the drinking public, letting them know where quality beer and interesting pubs can be found - and enabling them to vote with their feet by patronising the brewers and publicans who provide what they want.

As a member you can have your say about the issues which affect you. You can stand for election to office, attend the annual conference to speak and vote, and help organise local campaigns.

You can help select pubs for the Good Beer Guide, help out at beer festivals and enjoy some excellent social activities.

You can get big discounts on the Good Beer Guide and other CAMRA books and products, as well as free or reduced price admission to CAMRA beer festivals. And you'll receive our monthly newspaper, What's Brewing (not to be confused with our local magazine, What's Doing), delivered to your door every month. All new members receive the Member's Handbook as soon as they are registered.

As of January 2009, full membership costs £22 for individuals and £27 for two people living at the same address (and sharing their copy of What's Brewing). People aged under 26, or over 60, or registered as disabled, are entitled to a special rate of £16. (For obvious reasons, we do not accept applications from persons under 18 years of age.) All these prices are discounted by two pounds if you pay by direct debit. And anyone joining before 31st October 2009 will get £20's worth of vouchers to spend in Wetherspoon's, saving you 50p on the price of a pint.

These rates apply to people resident in the UK or other member states of the European Union. Overseas membership is also available for people living beyond the EU, with What's Brewing air mailed out to you. This costs a bit more: rates on application to HQ in St Albans.

Don't forget, members paying by direct debit get a discount of two quid. We are still happy to accept cheques, standing orders and so on, but the additional costs incurred means that we do charge slightly cheaper rates if you sign up for direct debit.

You'll find further information about membership and an application form here. Or you can write to:

CAMRA, 230 Hatfield Road, St Albans, Hertfordshire ALl 4LW

or send them an e-mail.
