Contacting us by e-mail

One of the great joys of the Internet is that anyone can contact us about absolutely anything. And one of the great problems of the Internet is that all sorts of idiots try to contact us with details of wonder drugs, pornographic videos and dubious get-rich-quick schemes. In other words - Spam.

Every e-mail sent to us is scanned automatically to screen out the obvious spam and to block messages from domains which are known to generate or to tolerate spam. However, some genuine enquirers also use these same domains. A good example is Hotmail, possibly the ultimate "disposable" address in that anybody can acquire a Hotmail address very easily and just as easily discard it. For this reason it is much abused by spammers and therefore blocked by our spam filters.

But don't despair! We also have additional filters to ensure that legitimate correspondence still gets through. These look for certain keywords in the subject line.

Just to add another snare for the spammers, our address and the subject keywords are encoded using ASCII commands. This may or may not be apparent to you, depending on your browser. We are hoping that they are not apparent to the spambots which tend to focus on the HTML source code of the sites they trawl.

You can either click on this link, to generate an e-mail message, or "cut and paste" the following text to your mail client. You'll also need to replace the letters AT with the "@" symbol.

Address: mailto:camra.enquiriesATbtopenworld.com

Subject: CAMRA website response

Remember, don't change the address or subject if you want your message to pass through our spam filters unscathed!
