North Manchester CAMRA
Branch Diary

As you can see, most (but not all) of our activities take place on a Wednesday evening.

Apart from regular branch meetings and socials, we also organise other ways of having fun and drinking beer. Our events have included pub crawls, visits to breweries, Treasure Hunts (actually that's just a pub crawl by another name), working at or visiting beer festivals, surveying pubs for the Good Beer Guide, a bowling match, a Beer and Curry night, CAMrambles (yes, another name for a pub crawl) and even a lecture on Old Pubs and Taverns of Salford (a sort of virtual pub crawl really).

Non-members are welcome at most of our events and meetings. Come along, enjoy a few drinks with us, and tell us what you think of the pubs in your part of the world! But get in touch with us first, so we'll know who to look out for. (Contrary to popular opinion, it's not that easy to spot CAMRA members in a pub, although it's fair to say we're unlikely to be the ones drinking Miller Lite from the bottle.)

For up-to-date details and other information (like which bus to catch), just send us an e-mail.

Please note that our branch business meetings now begin at 7.30 p.m.
They are usually held in the upstairs room of either

Wednesday

4th

Heaton Park to Besses o'the Barn Crawl -
7.30 p.m. at the Royal Oak, Whittaker Lane; finishing around 9 p.m. at the Coach & Horses, Bury Old Road.
Now, the original plan was to use the Metrolink tram to reach these pubs. Unfortunately we've picked the week that they're digging up the line to lay a new junction for the branch line to Oldham, and no trams are running between Manchester city centre and Woodlands Road. We can only suggest that you use the replacement buses, which will run from Victoria, Shudehill, Piccadilly Gardens and Piccadilly railway station.

Thursday

Wednesday

Thomas Street and Oak Street Crawl -
7.30 p.m. at the new Marble pub, 57 Thomas Street (no prizes for guessing where that might be); 8.15 p.m. at Common, Edge Street; 9 p.m. at the Millstone, [image] This links to an external site over which we have no control Thomas Street; 9.30 p.m. at the Wheatsheaf, Oak Street.

Some of the pubs we visit can be difficult to find, so the street names include a link to the very wonderful This links to an external site over which we have no control Streetmap.co.uk.

You can also use the This links to an external site over which we have no control North West Journey Planner for bus, train and tram times. The This links to an external site over which we have no control GMPTE site also has a This links to an external site over which we have no control Bus Timetable Library where you can download individual route timetables.

And while you're on the Internet, you can even check if your train is on time. The This links to an external site over which we have no control National Rail website gives details of any problems on the national network.
